silage bins
Silage is animal feed made by fermenting corn stalks, hay, and other materials, mainly used in cattle and sheep farming. According to various factors, including the scale of breeding, budget, and climate conditions, AGICO has specially designed silage silos with steel plate structures. Steel silos are becoming increasingly popular, especially in modern large-scale farms. If you have any needs, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

AGICO Customized Steel Silo Systems with Turnkey Solutions.
silage silo for sale
Our steel silos are highly suitable for storing silage. Below are the features of the steel silos designed by our professional team.

Anti-corrosion steel plates
We use galvanized steel plates or stainless steel plates (SUS304), which have strong anti-corrosion properties and will not react with the acidic substances in the feed.

Sealed structure
The welds or spiral seams of AGICO steel silos are tightly combined, and the top is equipped with a sealed cover and a vent valve to prevent air from entering and causing mold.

Cone bottom design
The cone bottom angle is ≥ 45°, ensuring that the silage can be discharged smoothly without clogging the silo.

Ventilation and exhaust system
The top is designed with a controllable exhaust port to prevent the accumulation of CO₂ produced by fermentation and to prevent oxygen from entering.
Advantages of silage silo
top

The top of the silo adopts a rain cap structure to prevent rainwater from seeping in.
wall

The inner wall of the silo is coated with epoxy resin or food-grade coating to resist acid and corrosion, thus prolonging its service life.
bottom

The bottom of the silo is equipped with moisture-proof layers, ventilation ducts and drainage ditches to prevent the accumulation of condensation water.
inlet and outlet

The inlet and outlet are fitted with waterproof sealing rings and quick-closing devices to ensure airtightness.
feeding system

The feeding system uses screw or belt conveyors to ensure uniform loading.
discharging system

The discharging system uses a conical bottom screw or scraper discharging to avoid clogging.
monitoring system

The temperature and humidity monitoring system monitors the fermentation status in real time.
CO₂/oxygen

The CO₂/oxygen concentration detection ensures anaerobic conditions.
explosion-proof

The explosion-proof exhaust valve prevents excessive accumulation of fermentation gases.

Tips for using silage silos
When using silage silos, it is important to pay attention to some key points of use. The following are some precautions listed, hoping to be helpful to you. If you have more questions, please feel free to contact us and we will solve your needs as soon as possible.
- Silage fermentation requires an anaerobic environment. The steel silo should be sealed immediately after filling to prevent air from entering.
- The material should be layered and compacted (generally with a density of 650–750 kg/m³) to reduce air retention.
- The moisture content of the silage raw materials should be controlled between 60% and 70%; too wet and it will seep juice, too dry and it will be difficult to compact.
- The optimal fermentation temperature is 25–35℃; too high a temperature will cause spoilage, and too low will slow down the fermentation.
- Regularly check the sealing ring and welds, and repair any leaks promptly.
- Clean the silo thoroughly after each emptying to prevent moldy old material from affecting the new material.
- Prevent condensation inside the silo. In areas with large temperature differences, dehumidification or ventilation devices should be installed.
- Strong acid cleaning agents are prohibited to avoid corroding the steel plate.
- Regularly monitor temperature changes. A temperature rise in the early stage of fermentation is normal, but it should remain stable in the later stage; otherwise, oxygen may enter.
why choose us
- High investment return
Compared with traditional concrete silage pits or brick-structured silos, AGICO steel silos have a longer lifespan (over 20 years), lower maintenance costs, and an overall investment return rate of over 35%. They are the preferred solution for modern dairy farms’ storage systems.
- Modular design
AGICO silage steel silos feature fast installation, low foundation requirements, and can be flexibly combined according to the scale of the dairy farm or farm, making future expansion convenient.
- Food-grade safety standards
At the design stage, AGICO silo was fully aware of the strict hygiene requirements for silage. The inner walls of the silo are made of food-grade galvanized steel plates or anti-corrosion steel plates with epoxy coating to ensure that no harmful substances are released during long-term contact with feed, thus avoiding spoilage, mold, and off-flavors of the feed.
- Intelligent ventilation and temperature control system
The silo can be equipped with an intelligent ventilation system, temperature and humidity monitoring probes, and automatic exhaust fans to adjust the internal environment in real time and prevent silage from overheating or molding. The system can be connected to mobile devices, allowing users to remotely view the data inside the silo and automatically control it.
